ABOUT DR. Z

Dr. Rod Zimmerman has practiced general dentistry in Mandarin, Florida for over 15 years.   He earned his Biological Science Degree with Cum Laude Honors at University of California, Irvine, and his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from McGill University in 1984.  Dr. Z. successfully received his General Practice Certification from University of Florida.

Dr. Z retains active membership with the American Dental , Florida , and Northeast District Dental Association.  He also maintains his Academy of General Dentistry membership to continually update his didactic and clinical skills.  Dr. Zimmerman, also a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry, was first to bring to Jacksonville the ND-Yag Dental Laser.  He also received certification to use the Er-Yag Laser to treat carious lesions in the mouth.  Dr. Zimmerman also received his certification in Florida to treat his patients with Invisalign orthodontics.  Dr. Zimmerman has completed his education on the Continuum of Implant Dentistry 2000 at University of Florida, Center of Implant Dentistry, to stay abreast in placing and restoring dental implants.  He also completed numerous continuing education of bone grafting to better treat his patients requiring dental implants.  He has recently been trained on the placement of dental “mini implants” to stabilize dentures.  He is currently an active member of the Academy of Implant Dentistry.

Dr. Z’s love to educate the public on dentistry has afforded his fortune of being interviewed by Channel 12 News and of publishing articles in the community news.  His community involvement extended to teaching children on preventive dentistry at Neighborhood Schools and to the Birth and Parenting Club.

Dr. Z, or who has become known as “A Smile by Z” attributes his practice success to always putting the patient first.  Dr. Z, committed to revolution in dental technology from cosmetics to computerization in dentistry, still feels that it is the personal service and the attentive needs, particularly catering to the dental coward, which is most important when treating his patients.  Dr. Z believes that true-to-the-heart comments and valuing his dental-patient relationships is what makes dentistry a rewarding and an enjoyable career. Such is the feeling that Libby wrote to Dr. Z. and his staff.

Dr. Rod Zimmerman and Staff,

This note is to let you know how much you have changed my life’s perspective on Dentistry.  I was always afraid of going to the dentist I saw your sign “We Cater to Cowards” and thought that this is the dentist for me!  For the first day, your staff has been gentle, caring, and attentive.  You understand that a patient’s psychological and mental state has as much to do with successful dental treatment as the procedures.  You constantly check how I am doing , talk to me with encouragement, and let me know everything before you do it.

You have worked a miracle for me.  Even after two root canals, several caps, and other work, I can honestly say my teeth are beautiful and you have helped me overcome my fear.  You and your staff are the greatest!

                                        Libby
