TMJ / NTI Headaches
TMJ Examination

Step 1: Comprehensive Medical and Dental History Diagnosis and treatment of TMJ related symptoms first start with a through review of your medical and dental history as it relates to your symptoms.

Step 2: Recording of Wear Patterns and Tooth Wear

Step 3: Taking the necessary x-rays

Step 4: Palpation and Auscultation: A through TMJ exam also consists of palpating the surrounding muscles of the temporal mandibular joint and listening to joint sounds via a Doppler device.
Step 5: Centric Relation and Study Models: Accurate Impressions of upper and lower dental arches are taken and poured up into stone models, functioning as a duplication of your teeth. A Facebow transfer and centric bite is registered to mount the study models and evaluate your bite.

Step 6: The mounted models are closely evaluated for tooth-tooth relationship and simulated jaw movements
